Antonio Lopez De Santa Anna

Antonio Lopez De Santa Anna (February 21 1794 - June 21 1876) was a greatly influential Mexican politician and general.  Antonio was center of Mexico's politics during such events as the Texas revolt (1836) and the Mexican-American War (1846–48). Santa Anna gained much prestige in 1829 when he fought against Spain’s attempt to reconquer Mexico, and he became known as the Hero of Tampico. This surge of glory helped him gain the presidency in 1833 as a Federalist and opponent of the Roman Catholic Church; in actuality, however, he established a centralized state. He remained in power until 1836, when he marched into Texas to quell a rebellion by U.S. settlers there. During the course of this punitive expedition, Texas declared its independence from Mexico.Antonio also lost his leg during a skirmish with the French Navy. He gained enough prestige from this event to act as dictator from March to July 1839, while the president was away. Two years later he led a revolt and seized power, which he held until he was driven into exile in 1845.

Davy Crockett

(August 17, 1786 - March 6 1836) - David "Davy" Stern Crockett was an American frontiersman from East Tennessee. He's commonly referred to the "King of the Wild Frontier" in popular culture.  After being made a colonel in the militia of Lawrence County, Tennessee he was elected to the Tennessee state legislature in 1821. In 1825, Crockett was elected to the U.S. Congress, where he vehemently opposed many of the policies of President Andrew Jackson. Crockett's opposition to Jackson's policies led to his defeat in the 1831 elections. He won again in 1833, then narrowly lost in 1835, prompting his angry departure to Texas (then the Tejas) shortly thereafter. In early 1836, Crockett took part in the Texas Revolution and was killed at the Battle of the Alamo in March.

Here's a fun little video of a song about Davy Crockett

MineCraft: The Alamo

Here is the start of the Alamo I & Bailey are creating.

Now here it is with a few minor changes & a flag added.

History of The Alamo

The great battle of the Alamo lasted 13 days from February 23 – March 6, 1836. Texas wanted independence from Mexico. On February 23, 1836,  General Antonio López de Santa Anna's army  arrived outside San Antonio nearly caught them by surprise. Fearlessly, the Texians and Tejanos prepared to defend the Alamo together. The defenders held out for 13 days against Santa Anna's army. Colonel Travis immediate sent a request to Gonzales for assistance. On the second day Travis assumes all command over the Alamo (considering Bowie becomes too ill to still serve as co-commander) and Santa Anna ordered an artillery battery constructed on the west side of the river On the third day a two hour engagement occurs when Santa Anna’s troops attempt to occupy picket and thatch huts located near the southwest corner of the compound. Members of the garrison venture out and burn the huts this night. Santa Anna’s soldiers construct artillery batteries south of the Alamo. The next 3 days the Alamo and its defenders endure cannonade, batteries and entrenchment from Santa Anna. The next four days are spent still under a siege bracing against a second cold front, Mexican troops position themselves on the eastern side of the Alamo and a relief column from Gonzales arrives, responding to Travis’ pleas for help. Throughout the 10th, 11th and 12th day of the siege Santa Anna orders his artillery batteries moved closer to the Alamo and gets an additional 1,100 troops. Santa Anna announces to his officials and troops the night before March 6th, 1836 that they attack in the morning.  On March 6th, 1836 Santa Anna gives the order to attack just before dawn. After a bloody 90-minute battle, the Alamo falls. Santa Anna orders the bodies of the slain defenders burned.
